  • Policies and Procedures for the Group Instruction and Training Program

    1. Nurturing Environment

NeuroSphere Academy (NSA) provides a supportive and stimulating setting where children, and tweens feel safe to explore their neurological abilities. NSA's environment is designed to foster innate curiosity, encourage risk-taking in learning, performance and relationships. NSA promotes positive peer interactions and self-confidence through engagement and competence.

    2. Wellness Policy

NSA prioritizes the health of all participants. Students showing signs of illness should stay home. If a student becomes ill during the program, parents will be contacted for immediate pick-up.

    3. Behavioral Expectations and Discipline Practices

NSA uses relationship-based limit-setting methods, employing the "connect, then redirect" approach. Instructors first connect emotionally with the children, then when they can process what the instructor has to say, the instructor guides them towards appropriate behavior, maintaining a consistent, firm, and warm approach.

    4. Behavioral Concerns Policy

If a child's behavior interferes with others' learning, NSA will work with parents to address the issue. Persistent problems may result in suspension or expulsion from the program. Such decisions are at the sole discretion of the Director, Dr. Swanson.

    5. Zero Tolerance Policy for Bullying

NSA maintains a strict no-bullying policy. Any bullying behavior will result in immediate parent notification and may lead to suspension or expulsion from the program if not promptly remedied. Such decisions are at the sole discretion of the Director, Dr. Swanson.

    6. Adult Relational Respect Policy

NSA expects all adults, including parents and staff, to model respectful behavior. Disrespectful or inappropriate behavior from adults may result in a child's suspension or expulsion from the program at the sole discretion of the Director, Dr. Swanson.

    7. Cancellation and Refund Policy

NSA has a firm no-cancellation, no-transfer, and no-refund policy. A child's spot is secured for the entire 21 hours of instruction on the exact day and time slot of the week enrolled in. There are no refunds, transfers for missed group sessions due to illness, accident, suspension, expulsions, family move or any other foreseen or unforeseen event in the child's life.

    8. Attendance and Notification Procedure

Please inform NSA of any absences by 8 AM on the day of instruction. While attendance at all sessions is encouraged for optimal benefit, we understand that occasional conflicts may arise.

    9. Self-Regulation Tools

Children are allowed to bring one favored self-regulation tool (excluding slime or putty). Additional tools will be provided during each group session to support children's self-regulation needs.

    10. Snacks and Dietary Considerations

NSA provides snacks and water. Please ensure that your children have a balanced snack or meal before arriving. If a child has dietary restrictions or allergies, parents are expected to provide those group-time snacks for your children.

    11. Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Timely arrival and departure are crucial. Late pick-ups may incur additional child supervision fees prorated at $150 an hour.

    12. Parent Availability During Program Hours

We request that parents remain in town with their phones on during program hours. In case of illness or behavioral issues, you may be asked to pick up your child within 15 minutes.

    13. Activity Structure and Breaks

NSA's Summer Camp Experience sessions include increments of focused face-to-face group instruction and training bookended by fun NeuroSensoriMotor breaks. All instructors review each child's progress together on a regular basis.

    14. Difference from SEL Tutoring

Unlike typical Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) tutoring, our program offers a comprehensive, neuroscience-based approach to neurological development. We focus on optimizing brain function and building practical skills that extend beyond traditional SEL concepts.
